What is Artificial Intelligence? All you need to know.
Lately, more and more people are talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it will change the world, but many of them do not know what this means.
In simple terms, artificial intelligence refers to systems or machines that mimic human intelligence to perform various activities who can be improved iteratively based on the information collected. AI manifests itself in a number of forms.
To make it easier to understand this concept, here is one example of artificial intelligence:
- Chat bots use AI to understand customer issues faster and provide more effective answers.
From SIRI, to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence is progressing rapidly. While science fiction often portrays AI as robots with human-like characteristics, AI can encompass anything from Google’s search algorithms to IBM’s Watson to autonomous weapons.
AI systems will typically demonstrate at least some of the following behaviors associated with human intelligence: planning, learning, reasoning, problem solving, knowledge representation, perception, motion, and manipulation and, to a lesser extent, social intelligence and creativity.
Even If AI inspires images of high-performance, human-looking robots that will conquer the world, as you saw in the previous article, AI has no intention of replacing humans. Its purpose is to significantly enhance human functionality and contributions. This makes AI a very valuable asset for business.
How AI can help your business?
The central principle of AI is to reproduce - and then, transcend - the way people perceive and interact with the world. This is fast becoming the foundation of innovation. Supported by various forms of machine learning that recognize data models to allow predictions, AI can add value to your business by:
- Providing a more comprehensive understanding of the abundance of available data
- Rely on predictions to automate overly complex or routine activities
The transformation of AI cannot be abandoned. To remain competitive, every organization needs to embrace AI and build an AI ecosystem. Companies that fail to adopt AI under certain conditions in the next 10 years will lag behind.
