Mobile application: Environmental protection project
The application consists of a suite of games aimed at raising the young generation’s awareness on the importance of protecting the environment, and on the natural disasters to which this generation may be exposed.
Thus, two current and pressing topics were addressed: waste management (its impact on urban fauna, forests and the marine environment) and knowledge of emergency response methods (in case of flood, earthquake and fire).
Given that the application is addressed to children aged between 10 and 18, the information is provided in a way that is fun and easy to remember, by integrating it into each level of the games. The information is distributed within the rewards received, the choices that the user must make, in the Help area, and in the introductory animations.
In the educational section of the game, it is verified if the information received during the game has been assimilated correctly by the target audience through the suite of games and quizzes on the mentioned topic.
Challenges encountered
1. The volume of information integrated in the application is extraordinarily large, so the main challenge was to compress this information so that it still represents a mobile application in the form of a game suite and not an e-book.
2. Creating custom graphics (animation and static elements) so that they briefly include all the information we can convey in 1-2 pages of descriptions.
3. Keep the app at a fairly small size so that it can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
4. Curbing the desire to change things constantly with the discovery of new ways to integrate components.
